Woodford Reserve Master's Collection Four Grain Bourbon – Batch #2 Four Grain was the first release in Woodford Reserve's Master's Collection, the experimental limited series started by Master Distiller Chris Morris. Most bourbons use three grains: corn, rye and malted barley. This one also adds wheat, and it was pot-distilled. The first batch was sold only in Kentucky. Batch #2 followed in 2006 with national distribution. Whisky Advocate scored Batch #2 a 95 and called it more refined and better integrated than the first batch. Tasting Notes • Nose: Maple, honey and butter • Palate: Silky and creamy, with nutty sweetness and rye spice • Finish: Dry and spicy, building toward the end Product Details • Distillery: Woodford Reserve (Kentucky) • Style: Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, four-grain mash • Proof / ABV: 92.4 proof (46.2% ABV) • Mash Bill: Corn, rye, malted barley and wheat • Size: 750ml • Availability: Limited 2006 release, long discontinued Why It Stands Out This release launched the Master's Collection, which became one of bourbon's best-known experimental series. A mash bill with both rye and wheat is still unusual, and bottles from these early batches rarely come up for sale. Serving Suggestions This is a collector's bottle best enjoyed neat. Let it rest in the glass for a few minutes so the creamy, nutty character can open up. Stop by Bansum Wine & Liquor in Patchogue or order online for shipping.
