This fifth installment in the Master’s Collection represents a pioneering exploration of non-traditional wood finishing in the bourbon category. Utilizing the core 72% corn, 18% rye, and 10% malted barley mash bill, the spirit underwent a unique finishing period in toasted maple wood barrels. This choice of wood is technically significant due to maple's high sugar content and porous structure compared to traditional white oak, which facilitates a rapid exchange of sweet maple lactones. Matured in heat-cycled stone warehouses, the process resulted in a structurally dense profile with technical notes of maple syrup, cinnamon, and honeycomb, balanced by the distillery's signature spice. It remains a definitive benchmark for collectors tracking the early history of experimental wood finishes in Kentucky.
