This expression utilizes the legendary wheated mash bill of approximately 70% corn, 16% wheat, and 14% malted barley. Replacing the spicy notes of rye with the softness of wheat, the liquid underwent 15 years of maturation in the middle floors of Buffalo Trace’s metal-clad warehouses. These specific aging conditions allow for a balanced interaction between the spirit and the wood, avoiding the over-oaked characteristics of older expressions while maintaining a robust proof. This process yields a concentrated and complex profile of heavy caramel, dark chocolate, and toasted oak, finished with an elegant balance of dried fruits and baking spices.
