Orphan Barrel Gifted Horses is part of Diageo's Orphan Barrel series, which tracks down forgotten or orphaned stocks of whiskey aging in warehouses and bottles them in small batches. This release broke from the series' usual double-digit age statements, instead blending younger MGP bourbon with a small amount of much older Bernheim bourbon and a touch of corn whiskey, bottled at a robust 51% ABV. The result is richer and bolder than a typical young bourbon, with the older stock adding depth beneath the sweeter, corn-forward backbone. It's an unusual, talked-about pour for a whiskey collector curious about the series.
