<p>For a whiskey wunderkind as famous and as well known as the iconic Jim Beam Distillery, to offer up a sipping liquor classified as a ‘masterpiece’ carries a heavier weight both of reputation and of expectation that many competitors would otherwise balk at. Not Jim though, no - they’ve created a whiskey worthy of such a presence in the full-flavored profile of the Masterpiece PX Sherry Cask Bourbon. Bottled in 2013 and released in a limited run of just 2,000 select pieces, this exceptional extra-aged NAS bourbon is composed of a mash bill containing 77% corn, 13% rye, and 10% malted barley, matured initially in new charred American oak and then finished in select Pedro Ximenez ex-sherry casks. Aromatic notes of thick oak, spice, licorice, and caramel are followed by undertones of premium sherry. The palate announces itself with layers of more sherry, cocoa, vanilla, toffee candies, and preserved dark fruits drizzled in more caramel.</p>
